ABOUT THE CLASS

The WASZP is an Australian designed class which provides unmatched one-design foiling for sailors young and old in countries all over the world.  The Class and its members have close links to the distributor, KA Sail, who are based in Melbourne.

Please see video “taking flight”  where the creators of the WASZP explain the boat’s journey.

The first Australian National Championship was held in January 2018 in Sorrento, Victoria.   This started a tradition of accessible, inclusive and exciting events which strike a good balance between racing and social activities.  This tradition lives on.

With over 155 WASZPs in Australia, some sail to learn the fundamentals of foiling while others race competitively in the strong racing fleets in Victoria, NSW and WA and the emerging ones in Tasmania, Queensland and the ACT.  Please see the link to contacts as Class representatives will be happy to help you. If you are interested in buying a boat, your local distributor representative is also listed on the contacts page.  There is a healthy second hand market; talk to your local fleet or local agent.

There is an Australian national championship each year and fleet racing and slalom events by state.  See Upcoming Events for more details including locations.

KA Sail helps the Class run events.  They provide a platform called RaceHub which (among other things) is the store of upcoming events across Australia and the world.  These events aim to provide a great sailing experience by focussing on premier foiling venues.  The philosophy is to deliver racing that is competitive, high-quality and fun. Off the water, there are opportunities to learn more from WASZP experts and leading sailors, supported by an inclusive social experience
